WAIUKU'S DEEDS.

A racecourse performer of high merit iis Waiuku, and liis latest performance in the Thompson Handicap at the Hutt on WedV. nesclay last adds further to his reputation. He bad the" great weight of lOst 31b in the saddle, or 161b above weight for age. Of course the winner is a rare weight carrier, and at his age I don't think there is any equine superior to him. He has now been on the tiirf five seasons, not having been raced as a 2-year-old. As everybody must know, by this time Waiuku was bred by Mr J. Sandy, and was sold at Wellington Park by auction for 73gs. This season out of wen starts he lias won the New Zealand (jup and Thompson Handicap, and ran • second in the Wanganui Cup, A.X.C. Handicap, c.J.C. Canterbury Cup and Metropolitan Handicap. He has three times won the Thompson Handicap. On the previous occasions,, strange to way, .Auckland horses were runners up. He carried 7st 51b, and beat St. Clements (Sst ■ 111b) by three lengths, and he had Sst 131b ast year and beat St. Paul (Bst 121b) by ■ Jialf a length. A real good performance on the part of Waiuku was the C.J.C. Electric , | 'ate, wherein he defeated Daring and ran the four furlongs in 47|sec. At this time lie was a five-year-old.
