PAEROA-THAMES RAILWAY.

PAEROA, this day. Active progress has been made Avith the various works on this line. During the recent fine weather the bridge builders were engaged erecting a large bridge carrying three spars 40 feet each and tAvo 20-feeb spans. This bridge should be ready for an engine to cross within a month, as the piles are already driven and head stocks in position, and filling formation and laying of permanent way cannot be proceeded Avith till this bridge and the smaller one a little ahead are completed. In the meantime the platelayers are busy laying siding and ballast and pit rails used for this siding Avere taken up from Kopn, Thames section, Avhere they were laid 17 years ago and found to be in excellent condition. Already about 3 miles of ballasting from New Quarry lias been completed from Puriri Creek. The distance from Puriri bridge to Price's Foundry, Thames, is 8 miles 64 chains, and at the present rate of progress the line should be completed Avithin 12 months. Mr Stewart, engineer, is in charge, assisted by Mr T. Shaw, foreman of works.
