The main low level is now in 775 feet' The country rock has .a more settled appearance, and the reef is iio\v a, solid body of a good description for gold, of which traces can be got by panning. In the rise the reef is four feet in width, but the ore is not good enough to crush. The intermediate level is in 175 feet. At present the reef is only six inches wide, but before connection is secured with the rise it will widen considerably.. North of the winze the reef is nine feet wide, of which three feet is saved. From No. 1 'inter mediate level a few tons of ore worth j about 7dwt of gold per ton were obtained. |In section G. block 7 the reer is three feet iin width. The manager adds :—" I have out the slightest doubt about the future success of your mine if the sinking operations recommended by me are pursued," TOKATEA CONSOLS. The leader in the drive from the top of the western rise is small, hut carries a little gold. Payable ore is still being won from the slopes on the cross lode. The cross leader on"- Kennedy's reef continues to carry a little gold. A crushing of 30 tons of ore returned 90oz ldwt of gold, or about 3oz to the ton.
