A GIRL'S SAD DEATH.
CARP>OLTC ACID AND TOOTHACHE.
A sad poisoning accident occurred at Berrinm, New South Wales, on January 14-th, by which a young girl,.aged 16, named Kate Walker, met her death. The girl was suffering severely from toothache, and when asked to come to dinner stated that her tootli was too bad, and that she would be down shortly. She was visited later on by her cousin, when she pointed to a bottle of carbolic acid. Recognising that the girl was very bad, her cousin brought assistance, but, in spite of everything being done, she expired at 2 a.m. An inquest was held, when a verdict of accidental death was returned. It is presumed that deceased placed a bottle containing carbolic acid to her mouth, intending to poursomeinto her tooth, and by some means or other some passed into the throat. The doctor stated that she did not swallow the acid, as at first supposed', but it lodged in the throat and affected the brain.
