SOUTH AUCKLAND RACING CLUB.

HAMILTON, Monday.

The meeting of the South Auckland Racing Club held on Saturday evening for the purpose or making arrangements for holding the annual race meeting was well attended, and a good deal of interest was manifested. The treasurer read the balance-sheet, which showedaprolit over the last race meeting of £15 12s. This amount, he stated, had gone with other moneys to pay an old liability of £30, but there was still a small balance in band, and in comparison with former years this was considered eminently satisfactory. It was decided to hold the annual race meeting on Saturday, March sth, and the following officers were appointed :—President, Mr W. H. Herries ; Vice-President, Mr F. W. Lang; Judge. Mr L. Cussen ; Committee, Messrs Slade, Eclgeeumbe, Storey, Kenny, Coates, Atkinson, Tristram, Manu, Crawford, Bright, Booth and Preston; Secretary, Mr W. Bright; Treasurer, Mr Geo. Edgecumbe. The prize money was settled at £180, and the membership fee fixed at 10s (id. A guarantee list was signed by 21 of those present agreeing to make good any loss that might be made over the meeting. It is most unlikely, however, that they will be called upon to do so. It was also agreed to pay out all the prizes as soon as the races were over, and a meeting will be held that evening for the purpose. The programme committee then drew up the following list of events: Trial Handicap of £15, seven furlongs; Hurdles, of £22 10s, one and a-half miles; Cup of £45, one and a quarter miles ; Pony Race of £12 10s, six furlongs ; Steeplechase, of £35, about three miles ;~Clandelands Handicap, £25, 1 mile ; Trot, of £10, 2h miles, and Flying Stakes of £20, live furlongs.
