GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOARD
The ordinary meeting of the Granimar School Board was held yesterday afternoon in the Board's office, Victoria Arcade. Present: Sir G. M. O'ROrke (Chairman), the Rev. Canon JNelson, Colonel Haultain, Hon. J. A. Tole, Messrs Dignan, Speight, and Luke.
Maori Scholarship.—On the motion of Colonel Haultain it was decided to offer a scholarship of the annual value of £20 to Maori scholars residing in the Auckland education district.
School Buildings.—The scheme of the sub-committee for. the renovation of the interior of the school building was approved of.—The Board accepted the tenders of Messrs J. L. Holland and Sons for' kalsoinining the corridors and rooms now plastered, and of Mr Ellingham for the carpentering work, tbe total cost of tbe renovation being £150. District Scholarships. — The Board of Education recommended that free tuition be granted to the first four candidates holding senior certificates of proficiency, and the first live junior certilicates of proficiency in connection with the recent district scholarship examinations. — The recommendations were adopted. Finance.—Accounts amounting to £469 lis 8d were passed for payment.
