The third performance of the spectacular melodrama " For England "by the Bland Holt Dramatic Company attracted another crowded house last evening, and long before the rise of the curtain every available inch of seating and standing accommodation was occupied, while many were turned away, unable to gain admission. The audience was very enthusiastic, and the frequent applause and laughter showed how much the piece was enjoyed. The ;final performance of "For England" will be given this evening, and to-morrow Sutton Vane's melodrama "In Sight of St. Paul's " will be presented. The dwelling of Mr Win. Sharp, jun., at Pukekoho East, was destroyed by fire on Monday morning at 10 o'clock. Mr Sharp and his son were away from home at the time. Mrs Sharp and her daughter were the only persons about the premises when the lire broke out, and were unable to save any of" the furniture or clothing. The house was owned by Mr Young, of Buckland, and was insured in the New Zealand office for £70. There was no insurance on the contents. Mr Sharp's loss is estimated at £150. The novel and pleasing entertainment of the Ivinematograph Company was repeated in the Agricultural Hall last evening. The kincmatograph pictures shown were excellent, and tho concert programme, which was a new one, was greatly en joyed. Songs were given by Miss (Hover and Mr Win. McKenzie. The last nights of the season are announced. The prices are fixed at popular rates, being 2s and Is. On Saturday evening next, New Year's night, a special Scotch programme will be given.
