LADIES' HANDICAP DOUBLES.
WON BY MISSES BRABANT AND SLOMAN. .This morning saw the finish of the Ladies' Handicap Doubles. This was won by Misses Brabant and Sloman (rec. 154) 4—6 6—3 6—3, after a very interesting game with Mrs Newell and Mrs Gentles (rec. |-.15). The latter players have played very pluckily through the whole tourna•xnent; and,as will be seen, won the first set in the--finals, bub Miss Brabant's sterling back line play pulled the match, so to speak, out of ' the fire, and they--won the next'two sets 6—3*6—3. .. • -. . . COMBINED HANDICAP DOUBLES. The finals of these * matches have yet to be played. Styche and Miss Kennedy (owe 4 "15) are now in the iinals, beatingPeacock and -Miss Gorrie (owe. \ 15) rather easily.—6-4 6.-4. Styche's careful net play is abnost as accurate as Hooper's, and Miss Kennedy never seems to lose heart. Their chance for the final is very good. MEN'S HANDICAP SINGLES. In the semi-final round of this match Fisher defeated Brabant after a close contest. Only two sets were played, both falling to Fisher when his opponent had won five games. Marshall defeated Gentles more easily, his opponent only winning two games in each set. At the time of going to press Marshall and Fisher are playing in the final, and Marshall has established a slight lead.
