PAKURANGA V. CITY CLUB.

A cricket match was played at the Domain on Christmas Day between the Pakuranga and City Cricket Clubs, resulting in a win for the latter by 43 runs on the first innings, the scores being : City 120. H. Walton 26, F. Whelan 23 (not out), A. Walton 18, W. H. Whelan 12, and Long 10, being the principal scorers). Pakuranga 77—Ford 19, W. Robinson IS, and H. Fitzpatrick 15, being the only double figure scorers. In the ' second innings City were disposed of for 90 (A. Walton 21, W. Dickey 16, Stewart 13, and H. Walton 12). This left Pakuranga 133 to make to win, which they failed to do, the score at the call of time being 86 for the loss of six wickets, Ford 39, Davis 19, and E. Fitzpatrick 11. Simpson and W. Whelan for City were the most successful bowlers, the former during the match taking nine wickets for 57 runs, the latter six for 31 runs. Ford and Robinson did all the bowling for Pakuranga, Ford taking 11 wickets and Robinson six. Ford's was, however, the more expensive. A return match is to be played at Pakuranga, on the first available date.
