LATER.
FINDING OF THE BODIES,
TWO TIGHTLY LOCKED
TOGETHER,
MELBOURNE, December 29,
The worst fears are realised with regard to the sewer fatality. Late in the afternoon a party of firemen succeeded in finding the body of Gibson lying face downwards in the shaft. They brought it to the surface. Further along the shaft the bodies of Stevens and Porter were found so tightly locked together that it was impossible to separate them in order to bring them out. It is also certain thatMossop is a victim of foul air. An influx of water stopped the search, but it will be resumed to-day with the assistance of the electric light. Mossop was married five months ago. All the others are married, with families.
