CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALES.

The Christchurch wool sales opened on Friday, November 26th. The catalogue comprised 9,803 bales, of which 6,522 were sold, as against 5,861 entered at the opening sale last year, when 4,349 were sold. All the usual local and foreign buyers were present. The bulk of the entry- was faulty and gritty wool, owing to the very dry season. The sale opened badly for all sorts, but soon the better classes of strong and fine wools regained their position, and sold at well up to the prices ruling at the same sale last year, but the poorer sorts were from £d to id loAver. Best merino, 6£d to 7|d ; inferior, 4|d to 6d ; half-bred, super, 7^d to 8d; medium, 6|d to 7£d ; inferior, s|d to GJjd ; crossbred, super, 7d to 7fd; medium, 6£d to 6fd; inferior, 5d to sfd; longwool, super, 6|d to 7.|d ; medium, 6d to 6|d ; inferior, 5d to s.^d ; pieces and bellies, good, 4d to 6d ; inferior, 2d to 3|d ; and locks, id to 3id.
