AUCKLAND ANNUAL REGATTA.
PRIZE MONEY ALLOTTED.
A meeting of the Auckland Anniversary Regatta Committee was held last evening in the Waitemata Hotel, Mr S. E. Hughes presiding. The principal business was the allocation of the prize money for the various races on the programme for next Anniversary Day. It was decided to place a clingy race, open, on the programme. On the motion of Mr C. P. Murdoch it was agreed to present the first boats past the post in the yacht class races with a flag as a trophy. The following prizes were decided upon : — Scow Race. —First prize £50, second prize £10, third prize £3, on condition that not less than six vessels start; if less than six vessels start the prize to be reduced in proportion ; if three starters, first prize to be £30.
Yachts, Class A. —First prize, £30. Yachts, Class C (36ft water line and under).—First prize £20, second prize £10, third prize £2. Fishing Boats.—First prize £15, second prize £5, third prize £1. All-comers' Sailing Handicap.—First prize, £15; second, £10 ; third, £5. Yachts, Class D (30ft water line and under). —First prize, £20; second, £10; third, £2.
Half-decked Keel or Centreboard Boats (24 feet water line and under). —First prize, £7 10s ; second, £2 10s.
Open Boats (16 to 20 feet).—First prize, £4 ; second, £2 ; third, 10s.
Half-decked Boats (22ft o\-erall and under). — First prize, £3 and trophy; second prize, Hi and trophy. Half-rater Yachts (16 feet and under). — First prize, £5 ; second, £2; third, 10s. Senior Gigs (over 10 stone). —First prize, £15; second, £5.
Dingy Race (for boys 18 years and under).—First prize, £3; second, 10s. Maiden Gig Race (open).—First prize, £8 8s ; second prize, £2 2s. Maiden Gigs, under 10 stone.—First prize, £8 8s ; second, £2 2s. Cigar and Umbrella Race. — Trophy valued at £2.
Senior Gigs, under lOst.—First prize, £10 ; second, £2 10s.
Ship's Gigs (tuck stern). —First prize, £5.
Stump Outrigger Race.—First prize, £3. Ladies' Pair Oar Race.—Trophies valued at £5.
Men-of-war and Naval Volunteer Cutters. —First prize, £15 ; second, £5. Junior Gigs.—First prize, £8 8s ; second £2 2s.
The total prize money allotted is £262.
The Chairman stated that last year the Committee paid away about £221 in prizes. The following regatta officials were appointed : —Umpire of sailing races, Mr G. V. Edgcumbe; umpire of rowing races, Mr W. C. Bruce ; judge of sailing races, Mr J. Ansenne ; judge of rowing races, Mr D. Gouk ; starter of sailing races, Mr R. S. Reynolds; starter of rowing races, Mr R. Logan, junior; handicappers of all races, Messrs Logan, C. Bailey, junior, and C. P. Murdoch. Mr T. .Henderson was appointed honorary auditor. It was decided to commence canvassing for subscriptions about the sth of January. It was resolved that the entrance money in the various races should be 5 per cent, on tbe value of the first prize.
