AUSTRALIAN.
HEAVY INSOLVENCY.
MELBOURNE, December 20.
The schedule of C. H. James has been filed. The liabilities were set down at £551,000 and the assets at £532,000. The causes of failure are given as dishonouring cheques and pressure by the banks, depreciation of investments and losses on stock.
As the schedule was not filed in James's estate within the time required, a creditor applied to the Court to compel debtor to tile. After several hearings the insolvent was adjudged guilty of contempt and a wan-ant issued for his arrest, but nothing could be done, however, as the insolvent is outside the jurisdiction, being in New South Wales.
