Drunkenness.—Two first offenders were convicted and discharged with a caution, while Jas. Troy, a- third offender,".was mulcted in 20s, with the option of seven days' hard labour.
Forgiveness. — A young man named Charles Hadh'eld pleaded pruilty to assaults ing Tobias Harrison, a Salvation Array officer, by striking him on the face with his clenched'fist.—Charles promised faithfully that it should' not occur again, and Mr. Harrison expressed his willingness to for*' give him.—" Mr Harrison forgives you," said the Magistrate, '' and I do, too. You can go." And he went. Alleged Window-breaking. — Margaret "Williams, alias " Opium Mag," was charged ■with wilfully and maliciously breaking a plate-glass window, value £9 10s, the property of Jesse King ami Co.-After hearing the evidence, the Bench committed the accused for trial at the Supreme Court.
