TO CORRESPONDENTS.
Lemon Trees from Cuttings (Fruit).—l have never seen or heard of lemon trees being propagated from cuttings. It might be possible to do so with care, but 1 don t think it is worth the trouble. Your old tree could be layered next autumn, but the best way to obtain young trees is to graft them upon orange stocks. By grafting them upon young seedling orange stocks it is claimed that they will much longer resist the attacks of rot at the roots and other diseases which are so fatal to all the citrous family in our climate. If you do not care to try grafting you could easily purchase grafted trees from any ot our nurserymen next winter.
