MAYORAL ELECTIONS.
WANGANUI. The Mayoral election resulted as follows: Mr Hatrick, 402; Mr Liffiton, 169. Mr Hatrick was returned by a majority of 208. BLENHEIM. Mr E. Purser Avas elected Mayor, defeating Mr T. Horton, the present occupant of the chair, by four votes. WELLINGTON. The result of the Mayoral election at Wellington yesterday was: Mr J. R. Blair, 1,359; Mr G. Fisher, 576. Mr C. T. Brown was elected Mayor of Melrose, and Mr W. A. Fitzherbert, Mayor of the Hutt. WESTPORT. . The mayoral election at Westport yesterday resulted in the return of Mr James Calvin. DUNEDIN. The polling for the election of mayor for Dunedin city resulted in the election of Mr E. B. Cargill, who was mainly brought forward on the ground of the sentiment that he would be a fitting person as son of Captain Cargill, leader of the early settlers, to hold the office on the occasion of the Jubilee of the province.
