JERSEY. ! Recently, two tons of ore from the; Jersey mine were sent to the Kapanga ■ battery for treatment, giving a return of I 51oz Bchvt of bullion. ! KURANUI-CALEDONIAN. ', The return of the Kuranui-Caledonian mine for October shows that 698 tons of quartz were crushed for G3oz 12dwt smelted , gold, valued at £170 13s 2d. WAIKANAE. A meeting of the AVaikanae G. M. Co. was j held yesterday afternoon at the Company's office. It was decided to voluntarily wind i !up the Company and Mr C. J. Stone was i appointed liquidator. - | ROYAL STANDARD. j At the Royal Standard mine at Whare- j i keraupunga the opening up works on No. ; 1 reef are being pushed ahead. Driving j northerly on the reef is now in hand ; the | reef shows a splendid class of ore. During j the month rich 5 ore was struck in No. 2 crosscut, the average assays being very high, and the bullion of good quality. A | staff of men are now opening out on this reef, and the stone coming to hand is high class. Mr F. A. Cutten, of J. I. Philips and Co., has just completed a survey of the mine. The plans, etc., will be sent Home by mail, also plans of tram lines. It is expected the tramway will be ready to convey the machinery to the mine about the middle of January and that the plant will be ready to crush by the beginning of May next. GOLDEN BUTTERFLY. The annual meeting of the shareholders of the Golden Butterfly was held yesterday afternoon in the Company's office. There was a good attendance of shareholders, and Mr Rees George presided. The report stated that it is the intention of the directors to offer the property to a syndicate of repute on the basis of fully paid up shares, and a good working capital being secured. The balance-sheet showed the receipts to have been £250 17s 3d, and the expenditure leaves a balance of £144 17s 6d. For the two vacancies on the directorate, four were nominated, and a ballot resulted in the return of Messrs J. C. Colbeck and T. Barnaby. WAIHI CONSOLS. The annual meeting of the Waihi Consols Goldmining Company was held yesterday afternoon in Mr H. Gilfillan's "office, Mr A. Wright presiding. The annual report stated that the directors had decided to sink a shaft south of the present one in order to intersect the lode cut by the Waihi West Company. The balance-sheet showed receipts to have been £444 2s 3d and the expenditure £227 6s 4d, leaving a credit balance of 1216 los lid. THE PERMANGANATE PROCESS. A private letter received in town states that Professor Black will shortly arrive here from Dunedin to test some ore from the Monowai mine, and also ore from Waiorongomai, by his Permanganate process. A successful trial of ore from the Mount Morgan mine was made at Dunedin by the Professor's process, with the result that 95 per cent, of gold and all the copper was saved at a cost, after roasting, of 5s Eer ton. It is quite likely that Professor ilack will also make a test of the ore from the Great Barrier Gold and Silver while in Auckland. LAPSED. The half-yearly meeting of the New Whau Goldmining Company, lapsed for want of a quorum. The balance-sheet showed receipts to have been £913 13s 3d, and the expenditure leaves a balance of £11 19s lid. The annual meeting of the Renown Goldmining Company, called for yesterday afternoon, lapsed. The balance - sheet showed the receipts to have been £452 Is Id, and the expenditure £308 fe lOd, leaving a balance of £83 14s 3d.

Hauraki Main Lodes.—No. 1 crosscut is now in 190 ft and passing through most excellent country. A reef has been intersected of a promising description 3ft wide, but the value has not yet been ascertained. No. 2 crosscut is in a distance of 90ft and No. 3 Oft. The contractors have the erection of the permanent plant well in hand, the concrete foundations have been laid, and the boiler house erected, whilst the winding .engines are on the ground. The whole of the machinery should be in operation in a fortnight's time.
