THE GREENWOOD FAMILY.

The members of the Greenwood family once more appeared before the Auckland public last evening, when they staged John Been ford's spectacular drama, " The Two Orphans," in Abbott's Opera House." The attendance was not so large, as the merit of the performance deserved, but that fact did not^ lessen the earnestness of the principals. The play is a iive act one. The scene is laid in Paris, towards the end of the reign of Louis XIV., in the 17th Century, and the interest of the piece is,'*e}iielly centred on the touching a<lvej|ifires- ol two orphan "iris, Henrietta aiidf Louise, the latter of whom is Blind: Henriette is abducted by a bold villain and separated from her sister, and this gives rise to some emotional scones. Several members of the Greenwood family, including Mrs Greenwood, took pait iii the play, and their actino' was conscientious and realistic. Miss Marihel Greenwood had the leading role as llenricUe, and she had every opportunity of displaying her undoubted talents as an emotional actress. , Miss Maribel was frequently applauded. Miss Afatha Greenwood also earned we'll - deserved praise for her faithful stage portrayal of Louise, the blind orphan o-irl! Her acting showed true dramatic spirit, and she more than earned the plaudits she received. Mrs Greenwood took the role of the old woman, La Frochard, and Misses Roberta and Ruby Greenwood assumed the parts of Genevive and Florette respectively. The principal male actor was Mr Coilett Dobson, who acted the part of the Count do Linieres, Minister or Police, and did his work in his usual painstaking manner. Mr Rolfe assumed the role of Armand, the young chevalier who rescued Henriette and subsequently fell in love with her. "The Two Orphans'" will be repeated this evening. To-morrow night "Last Lynnc" will be staged. ____«_—
