HOURS OF LABOUR.
RAILWAY STRIKE THREATENED,
THE ENGINEERS' CONFERENCE.
LONDON, November 25,
A conference of railway workers has been held at Birmingham to discuss the railway companies' replies to the recent demand for a reduction of hours. The Conference considered the replies to be unsatisfactory, and decided to reiterate their previous oiler to submit the matter to arbitration. If the oiler is not accepted they will strike. The Engineers' Conference is amicably discussing the question of freedom of management, as claimed by the employers.
