OUR CRICKETERS.

The cricket match between Newton and City Cricket Clubs was concluded' in the ' Domain on Wednesday afternoon, and resulted in a win for Newton by 23 runs on the first innings. Newton's scores were : —First innings, 142 ; second, innings, 93. City: 119, and 7 wickets for 42. City had two wickets down for 65 runs when the afternoon's play commenced, Nicholson (30) and Whelan (18) being the not outs. The former was dismissed without increasing his score. Whelan (29), Snedden (23), Morgan (13), Savers (10), and G. A. Court (8, not out), were the only ones who made any stand. Holden took 3 wickets for 44 runs, Stone 3 for 31, and A. Rowe 2 for 37. In Newton's second innings Holden (44), and Rowe- (21) were the only ones who reached double figures. Snedden took 7 wickets for 26 runs, Sayers 1 for 24, Simpson 2 for 2(5.
