KAURI GUM MARKET.
AUCKLAND, Wednesday.
Prices show no alteration this week, but buyers are not so eager to secure lines just now. The Clan MacLeod, lying in the stream, has 600 tons of gum on board for New York. The arrival of a number of Austrians bound for the gumfields will, no doubt, make the production increase in the summer months, but the fact of a lot of gum being got from the swamps will make it poorer in quality. About 140 tons came to hand this week, making the supplies for the first 24 days of November total 452 tons. We quote prices as follows :— Poor ordinary- £38 to £45 Fair ordinary £50 to £60 Good ordinary £65 to £75 Superior ordinary £75 to £84 East Coast £72 Rescraped i ... £90 to £100 Good rescraped £110 up.
