HIDES AND SKINS REPORT.

G. W. Binney and Sons' Report.—On Tuesday we cleared a large catalogue of hides, sheepskins, tallow, etc. Hides: All met ready sale, under brisk competition. Stout ox sold from 4^d to s£d; no prime ; medium and light, 3|d to 4d; cow and steer, 3£d to 3§d ; inferior lines, 3d; calf, 4d t* s|d; stags, 2d to 2|d per lb. Sheepskins : Longwools from 5s to 6s 3d; crossbreds. 4s 6d to ss; haltbreds, 3s 6d to 4s 3d; lambs, Is to Is 6d ; pelts (salted), lid to Is Id ; country dry skins, Is 6d to 4s 6d each. Tallow : Best lines, 12s to 12s 6d; inferior, 9s to 10s per cwt; fat, Id per lb. Wool: Odd lots fleece, 5d to 6Jd; pieces, 3|d to 4|d ; locks, Id to 2d per lb. Bones : 72s 6d per ton. Hair: Cow, 9d to lOd; Is 2d per lb. PRICES AT AUCTION. Sales at the following prices are reported this week by auctioneers :—Old potatoes, small sales effected at 2s 6d to 3s per cwt, and forced sales at 20s per ton; new potatoes very dull, prospects poor. Prices rule very wide, from |d to |d; onions (only j inferior offered) to l^d; maize, 2s 3d to j 2s 4d ex store; kumaras. difficult to quit. I

There is a fair glut in butter and a big fall off in supply of eggs. Local fruit: Cherries, Is 6d to Is 7d per lb ; loquats, 4d ; lemons, 3s 6d to 6s per case; oranges, local, 7s to 10s per case; gooseberries, large, 2^d to Sid lb ; medium, 2|d lb. Island: Bananas, 3s to 4s per bunch, 5s to 8s per crate; pineapples (sound), 5s to 12s per crate; Queen pines, 14s per dozen ; oranges, 15s to 27s 6d per crate.
