£343 FROM 20 TONS.
The English Company has completed a crushing of 20 tons of general ore this week at Scotty's battery for a yield of 120ozs of gold valued at £343 10s. T" his ore was taken from all parts of the mine as there are three leaders being worked, each of which carries good gold. The developments in the low level are also of a satisfactory character.
The mine manager reports as follows: —Rise from low level east side: The drive on Kennedy's leader lias been extended lift for the fortnight, southwards. Leader has come together again and has a very favourable appearance. We have seen no gold in the stone yet but get occasional prospects. Intermediate - cross lode, east side : We have timbered and secured another 20ft on this leader for the for night We have also one stope working on this leader. The leader continues to prospect fairly well. We are also driving west en its course prospecting. The leader is small but 1 am in hopes it will get bigger as we drive on it. Surface leader winze : We are now engaged in putting a stope over the drive in which we have seen gold for about 7ft along the leader.
