WAIHI CONSOLS.
As the time has expired for the completion of option for the -sale of this property, the directors have decided to resume work. It is intended to put down a new prospecting shaft, from which a drive can be put in to try and intersect the Welcome and Martha lodes. BAY VIEW. The manager of this Company came to town to-day, and brought up with him a parcel of GOlbs of what he described in a telegram as "magnificent stone." This was taken from the low level, which augurs well for the future of Che mine. The stone was on view to-day at Mr J. H. Harrison's oflice and excited very favourable comment. It is not of the class that may be described as show stone, because unless closely examined the gold is apt to be hidden by the mineral. The stone is, however, very heavy and should show more at j the battery than would be expected from a casual examination. It carries both coarse and fine gold freely distributed all over it as well as blue seams, which should also yield an amount of the precious metal when treated As the gold is showing under foot the reef may be expected in a lower level. There can be no doubt the present development is an important one for the Bay View Company.
