NATIVE TROUBLE EXTENDING.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
HAWERA, this day.
'' The native trouble, hitherto confined, to North Taranaki, has now reached. this district. Early this week a European settler's cattle taken in to graze by natives owning the sway of Tohu were driven off by Te Whiti natives, but Inspector McGovern apparently settled the matter yesterday. At Hawera to-day the natives have started ploughing on Mr Candy's freehold station, Hastings Road, Okaiawa, and the police have gone out. . . Nine natives arrested for ploughing on Mr Jolls' land were brought up and remanded to New Plymouth.
