Darwin.—Work in this mine has been commenced again under the management of Mr E. Me Williams. The work in progress is the picking up of the Multum-in-parvo level, with the object of getting into where the reef is intact.
During the month of October by the local.branch of the Bank of New Zealand purchased 1,2490z 14dwt of gold produced as follows :—Thames county, S3soz 17dwt (line gold 210oz) * Thames borough, 413bz 17dwt (fine gold, 280oz): total. 1,2490z 14dwts (fine gold 4900z). Several applications for assistance far repairing gbldfield tracks from companies operating in the district came before the County Council last night, and were referred to the Board of Works. The Council decided that the Government subsidy (£.120) on Tararu Road should be expended on the upper section of the road (which is in a very bad condition), instead of on lower one.
