THE VANCOUVER SERVICE.
LONDON, November 3.
The " Times," in an article on the Australian mail line, praises the HuddartParker Compaiiy's pluck and obstinacy in starting a Paciilc service in the teeth of much disappointment. His of immense importance, the paper says, to maintain a chain of swift British cofiimnmeation. Australian food supplies are important to Klondike, and the failure to provide sullicient adventitious aid is greatly hampering the line. The " Times" is confident that New Zealand will speedily ratify the contract entered into by Mr J. G. Ward in 1879, and in conclusion says it would be most unfortunate if so useful and important a line was dropped for want of local support.
