KAURI GUM MARKET.
AUCKLAND, Thursday.
An easier feeling has prevailed on this market, buyers not being so eager to operate as they were a week ago. At the same time owing to the limited supplies the demand that does exist has been sufficient to maintain prices at the high levels reached a fortnight ago. The Clan MacLeod has arrived here to load gum for New York, and as it is pretty certain sufficient cargo has already been secured to fill her, this no doubt has something to do with the less demand already noted, as the Alice is scarcely likely to leave this port until well on towards Christmas. This week supplies of East Coast have not been equal to demand, parcels to fill orders being hard to obtain. Supplies for the three days of November total 50 tons. The following is a guide to the prices required by holders: — Poor ordinary £38 to £45 Fair ordinary ... ... ... £50 to £60 Good ordinary £65 to £75 Superior ordinary £75 to £84 East Coast £70 Rescraped ... £90 to £100 Good rescraped £110 up.
