The Stud. WELLINGTON "BJARK QJTUD STALLIONS FOR SEASON 1897. The undermentioned thoroughbred stallions will stand at Wellington Park:— ST. LEGER (Imp.). By Doncastei- (Derby winner) out of Atalantis, by Thormanby (Derby winner) —Hurricane (One Thousand winner), by Wild Dayrell (Derby winner). He is undoubedly New Zealand's champion stallion, and in great favour with racing men from one end of the colony to the other. ST. LEGER was second on the list as a winner-producing sire for 1891-92, was at the top of the tree for sea-sonlß92-3, with 14 winners of £5250 7s 6d: lie was second for 1893-94; in 1594-95 stood at the top of the tree with 19 winners of £4553 16s 6d; in 1895-96 he was again the premier sire with 20 winners of £5047 11s; whilst last season (1896-07) he was more successful than ever by having 28 winners of £6981 4s. Among horses that ST. LEGER has sired are St. Hippo and Impulse (New Zealand Cup winners), Nestor (Auckland Cup winner), St. Paul, St Crispin, Acone, Clanranald. Hippomenes, St. Andrew, St. Clements, Waiuku, Doris, Regel, St. Laura, St. Regel, Sylvia Park, Rex, Retaliation, St Kilda. Terms: 50 guineas for single mares; 40 guineas two or more mares belonging to same owner. Only 15 mares will be taken besides his owner's. CUIRASSIER. By Musket (imp.)-Prailty, by Goldsborough—Flora Mclvor, by New Warrior (imp.)—lo, by Sir Hercules. CUIRASSIER is a full brother to the great sire Trenton. While on the turf, Cuirassier ran second to Manton in the Hawkes Bay Guineas (beaten a head), and won the Great Northern Derby (beating Manton, Raglan, Hilda, etc., in the fast time of 2m. 40is.), the Great Northern St. Leger, Railway Stakes Handicap, and Trial Stakes. Miss Em.ny and Sabretache are two of his progeny, the former winning the Great Northern Champagne Stakes and Criterion Handicap at the last A.R.C. Autumn Meeting, while Sabretache had hard luck last season in Australia by just 'getting beaten on more than one occasion. In New Zealand last season this sire's progeny won £748 4s 6d.
