The match between the English cricketers and the South Australian team ended in a draw. Heavy rain fell during the night, and during the day the match was interrupted by frequent showers. After the colonials, who continued their' second innings, had lost 5 wickets for 187 runs it was decided to discontinue, and the match, therefore, resulted in a draw. The English team have left for Melbourne. The following are the scores :— South Australia, first innings ... 409 England, first innings 475 South Australia.—Second innings. Hirst lwicket for 38 runs. Richardson, 2wickets for 80 runs. Hcarne, 1 wicket for 32 runs. Briggs, 0 wfeket for 5 runs. Hayward, 1 wicket for 22 runs. ADELAIDE, tins'day. The action of the English umpire Phillips in no-balling Jones for extra fast delivery has given rise to much comment and diversity of opinion, and has raised a burning question of fairness or otherwise in his bowling. Phillips previously warned Jones, and only adopted the extreme course of " no-balling " him because Jones took little notice of the warning.
