THE STAR OF ENGLAND.
The Tyser liner Star of England arrived yesterday afternoon from London, via Melbourne and Sydney. She left London on August 27, and reached Las Palmas on September 3, line weather prevailing throughout the trip. The voyage was resumed on the same day and the equator was crossed on the 10th September. A heavy gale which lasted two days was encountered on the 17th. Passed the Cape of Good Hope on the 23rd September in lat. 37deg. S, and ran the easting in 44deg. oOmin. Passed Cape Leuwin on October 9th, and had fine weather to Melbourne, which was reached on the 15th. Landed consignments and proceeded on to Sydney at 6 a.m. on the 20th, arriving at 10-30 a.m. on the 22nd. Landed Sydney cargo and left for Auckland at 3 p.m. on the 27th. Had fine weather on the first day, and on the 29th a strong breeze from the north was met. The Three Kings were passed at 6 p.m. on Sunday, and Cape Maria at 7 p.m., and the North Cape at 11 p.m. Cape Brett was passed at 5"20 a.m. yesterday and the vessel arrived as above. Captain W. P. Weech is in command and associated with him are the following officers: Chief, Mr J. D. Wilson ; second, Mr H. Ulyatt; third, Mr J. Mills. The engine department is under the management of Mr Gerard, and with him are second, Mr Binnie ; third, Mr Hutchinson; fourth, Mr Gillespie. Messrs Forbes and Stone are refrigerating engineers. Mr A. H. Nathan is the local agent for the steamer, which is expected to leave for Napier on Saturday next. She then goes to Wellington, Wanganui, and the Blurt", leaving the latter port for London on the 25 th inst., in order to arrive in London in time to catch the January wool sales.
