MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.

White Cliffs.—The crosscut is in 60 feet, and the country still continues firm and excellent. The reef should be to hand by thWlatter pairt 6i next week: New Golconda.—The Tangye pump lias had a good overhaul, and everything has been fixed up in the shaft in good working order. A start has been made to drive in the main face, and there is every indication of a leader being at hand. Hauraki Associated.—The new battery and machinery at this mine have started working by water power. City of Gisborne.—A break or fault has been met with in the drive, which has for the present entirely cut off the reef. The country appears better beyond the break. Hauraki No. 2.—The west crosscut is in 325 ft. No quartz has been met with in the face. -,No. 4 reef has again pinched in the face. Another stringer has been passed through in the east crosscut, but the reef proper has not yet been reached. The quartz on the hangingwall of the big reef looks well, but no visible gold has yet been met with in the stone.

New Golden Point (Tapu).—The winze below the 200 ft main level is now down a depth of 123 ft. When breaking down the reef formation we saw a few colours of gold in the quartz. I have commenced a small drive from the winze at a depth of about 100 ft, but we have not done sufficient work at present to estimate the prospects. We have also resumed rising on Bull's reef above the intermediate level.

Empress.—The reef in the stope is at present two feet thick, and a prospect of gold can be got by washing and pounding. On the hangingwall .the face is interlaced with a network of small stringers and mineral veins intermixed with flinty heads. Bay View.—The Country is showing more minerals, being a good indication for making gold in the stone. Caspian.—A small leader half an inch wide was cut, which showed bright mineral and .copper, blend. As .the face carries silicia veins the manager thinks the reef should be intersected shortly. Cuvier Light.—The reef is about three feet wide and looks well. Gold is got by pounding the stone.
