' ANOTHER LIBERAL REGULATION. PROOF OF. AGE. -~_,.. We ha,ve in the past disposed of the bugbear of "Proof of Age," by getting the member, immediately after receiving his Policy, to furnish whatever evidence he can., e.g., in default of copy 01 the Register of his Birth, an extract from Family Bible, or other record, a Declaration by one of his parents or other relative able to make one as to date of birth, or any document supporting his own statement. Failing all these we have accepted the Member's Statutory Declaration; and so far, we admit, our practice has been that of most other Mutual Life Offices in Australasia. We have now pleasure in announcing that the Board have authorised our going a step further, by undertaking the task of searching for evidence of age for every ; proponent who cannot himself produce it. Most of our new members are Australian born, and, as Registration of Births has been compulsory since 1856, .we do not anticipate much trouble 'lii""'obtaining their Birth Certificates; s'tilLKless for those born in the United Kingdom. In fact, we have pursued this rf.larf for some years past, whenever the assured so requested, and doubtless our contemporaries have done the same. The difference henceforth will be that we shall charge ourselves with the duty of . seeking for evidence of age, instead of throwing the onus of it on the members.
