Obituary: Bishop Hutchison, vicar apostolic of North Queensland, from dengue fever. The Federated Trades asked Mr Ritchie to arrange a Conference with the employers relative to the hours of labour. Mr Ritchie replied that such a course of action would be inopportune and would tend to complicate the situation. The Federated Trades concurred in this view. Mr Chas. J. Darling, Q.C., member of the House of Commons for Deptford, has been appointed to succeed Judge Collins, as one of the Judges of the Queen's Bench division of the High Court of Justice. The British troops who were quartered at Canea and Heraklion, Crete, owing to the unsettled condition of afiairs in the Island, will shortly return to Malta. The Viceroy of India declares that the creation of gold of a standard for India is approaching final success.
