AUCKLAND SWIMMING CLUB.

On Saturday evening the tenth annual meeting of the Auckland SwimnimgOlub was held at the Auckland Harbour Board Office, Mr S. E. Hughes presiding The Chairman laid before the meeting the correspondence which had passed between the Club and the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association. In this connection the Director and Committee had formulated certain instructions to their delegates and had sent a letter stating that the Auckland Club most keenly felt the treatment they had received at the hands of the officials of the N.Z.A.S.A., and were desirous of having the most rigid examination and enquiry as to the cause of such treatment. Mr Hnohes had also sent a letter informing the Association that a copy of proposed new rules had not been received, and the Club had therefore been unable to consider them for the meeting of the Association. Mr Hughes had in addition informed the Association that the Auckland Club was not prepared to take charge of a championship h-efetin-* under present circumstances, and protested against a percentage being claimed by the Association from the takings of any club holding championship meetings. In the course of discussion strong disapproval was expressed of tne treatment received by the Club. A resolution was passed unanimously approving ot the action taken by the Committee and Directors. ~._.,. t i The annual report referred to the loss the Club had sustained by the death of Mr L. Ehrenfried. Trophies for competition had been promised by Messrs J. W Russell, Kohn, Howden, Read Bros., A. G. Bartlett, Slaney and Prince. The report was adopted. Mr F. Burgess was appointed director in the place of Mr S. E. Hughes, who retired after three years service. The following officers were elected :— Grand patrons, Their Excellencies Lord Ranfurly and the Admiral commanding the Australian squadron; patrons, Messrs P. Dignan (Mayor of Auckland, J. J. Holland, M.H.R., J. H. Upton, J. Marshall and G. Dunnett; president, Mr J. M. Brigham; vice-presidents, Messrs D. McArthur, S. T. George, J. Baker, G. A. Creeth, M. Niccol, J. W. Tibbs, E. Withy, E. W. Alison, W. J. Courtney, W. H. Armstrong, J. Reid, W. Thorne, A. M. Myers, J. T. Julian,. J. Stichbury, R. Farrell, C. Grey, F. E. Baume, J. Becroft, J. Jameson, A. Alison ; directors, Messrs A. Goldwater, J. T. Armitage, F. P. Burgess; committee, Messrs F. A. Hedges. J. W. Browne, J. W. Gittos, E. J. Carr, H. J. Bailey, W. B. Eyre; hon. secretary, Mr C. J. Knox ; hon. treasurer, Mr E. Dean ; handicapper, Mr W. D. Eyre; auditors, Messrs R. W. St. Clair. George A. Creeth. Mr Hughes, on behalf of the Club, presented Mr Albert Goldwater, director and life member, with a. handsome silvermounted liqueur stand, suitably inscribed, on the occasion of his marriage.
