PAULTON-STANLEY SEASON.

By the Waihora early this morning arrived Mr Harry Paulton, Miss Alma Stanley and all the members of the company Messrs Williamson and Musgrove have sent on tour through this colony, and who will initiate their short Auckland season at the Opera House this evening with the first production in this colony of the farcical comedy "My Friend From India." The comedy is said to be ofthe farcical order, clever and original. It is by Messrs H. A. De Souchet and W. Lestocq, and contains brilliant literary quality. "My Friend from India," says "Sydney Morning Herald," is emphatically a piece to he laughed over. The dialogue furnishes the kind of nonsense which •W. P. Gilbert- defended on the ground that it was such "precious" nonsense, and the situations are concocted with a view to the kind of merriment in which reflection is whistled, down the wind. '' My Friend From India. '*' is, in fact, a wholesome, mirthful farce comedy that every one should see, and if seen will laugh over. We do not intend to give the story of the comedy here, as doubtless playgoers)' enjoyment of the comedy would be spoilt thereby : suffice it to say that an admirable, and'talented company, whose names we have previously, referred to, will interpret the comedy this evening, and will doubtless add to the firm's high reputation in this colony for Al performances. "My Friend from India " will only be played this, to-motrow and Wednesday evenings. It will lie succeeded by the latest farce comedy, "A Night Out," on Thursday and Friday, and by Sir Paulton's own comedy, "Nii.be."cm Saturday, thelast night of the seasor.. Attention is directed to the early door arrangements announced elsewhere, which will enable visitors to escape the inevitable crushing at the doors.
