P.O. Box 512 Laboratory and Assay Oihce. Kidd S Buildings. High-street. Corner QUEEN and SHORTLAND STS. A NOT HE R LIBERAL REGULATIO N. When writing under this heading last month as to our henceforth charging ourselves with the duty of seeking for evidence of age instead of throv.'ins the onus of it on the Members, v;e concluded by saying:— Vv re shall be much disappointed if this be not heartily appreciated by the public, as well as our representatives, whose task it will lighten; nor shall we be surprised if the example now set by tne MUTUAL OP AUSTRALASIA be followed after due cogitation by our contemporaries; and, if so. all the better for the cause of Life Assurance generally. Both these anticipations have been already realised; the new arrangement was at once recognised as another instance ot the MUTUAL OF AUSTRALASIA'S determination to make Life Assurance absolutely free from restrictions, and our example was copied to some extent by a leading Life Office, which issued on 16th September a somewhat similar Circular to Members. Needless to say, it does not go so far as ours did, as it stipulates for payment of fees by the applicants; whereas we,as the Branches have already be<>n informed, propose to search the Registers of Births at our own expense, and if the result agrees with the statement made in the Proposal, to issue the usual 'Admission of Age' slip to the Member without charge. From the 'Mutual Life Chronicle,' Ist October, 1897. Published by the MUTUAL LIFE ASSOCIATION Of' AUSTRALASIA. J. C. REMINGTON, General Manager.
