MISS GLADYS LEIGH'S BENEFIT.
A RARE treat for the theatre-loving public has been prepared by the promoters of the complimentary benefit to be tendered to Miss Gladys Leigh on Saturday next, at the Opera House. The programme advertised to.day comprises " Uncle's Will," a comedietta by J. Heyne-Smith, in which Miss Idrene Thornton, Mr Fred. Sherbourne and Mr G. Linden will take part. Miss Leigh herself will appear in a charming scene from Sheridan Knowles' celebrated play "The Hunchback," and as Juliet in the balcony scene from ''Romeo and Juliet." Several of Auckland's wellknown amateurs will render some delightful vocal gems, and the evening's performance will conclude with " The Widow's Mistake," an irresistibly funny comedy, by F. C Burnand, tho characters being taken by Miss Hettie Howarde, Miss Louie Aylett and Mr F. Sherbourne. We venture to predict that with such a novel and varied programme a lai'ge audience will assemble. The box plan is now open.
