Jonn Abbott v. John K. Lundon and John Lundon. —Claim £125 in connection with a p.n. made by John Lundon and endorsed by J. It. Lundon.—John Lundon confessed for full amount and costs.—John li. Lundon, who plaintiH" alleged endorsed the note, defended the claim.—Mr Burton appeared for plaintiH' and Mr Hugh Camphell for defendant), John K. Lundon. — Evidence was heard on last Court clay and Mr Brabant now gave judgment for defendant J. It. Lundon without costs, and against the defendant John Lundon on his confession for £125 and costs £2 19s od.,
Te Koha Hapakuku and Others v. Garlick and Lyon.—ln this case plaintills sue defendants to recover 20 sacks of kauri gum alleged to be the property Oi the plaintiiis, and valued at £78 5s 9d, or in the alternative the value of the gum and damages for its detention.—Evidence was heard on a previous, Court day.—His Worship now gave judgment for plain tills for £40, with costs £4 10s.
WhangAiiOA, September 28.—Sailed ' Auxiliary schooner Medora and Talisman, for Auckland.
At Mosgiel (New South Wales) two shearers named John Stewart and Thomas Burflood, employed on the Conoble station, quarrelled on September 16th, and had a tight. Burflood, on getting up to walk outside, dropped dead. He was aged 22, and is said to belong to Wangaratta, Victoria. A two-storey shop at the corner of Clifton Terrace, Wellington, was wrecked last evening by a fall of earth from an excavation behind it. The first slip broke > through the wall, and the occupants left hurriedly. Another and a larger one partly buried the lower storey and canted the house over. The place has only been built a month. |
