FANATICAL RISING SUPPRESSED
CALCUTTA, Sept. 10.
A fanatical rising amongst the Mollahs and Mohammedan^ection of population of the Malabar Coast in Southern India has been suppressed with little bloodshed, and the leaders captured
The Indian Government has sent a letter to the Ameer of Afghanistan, stating that the military opera, tions on the Indian frontier are intended for the punishment of Mollah Hadda and his followers. It is not proposed to interfere with the independence of the frontier tribes or to permanently occupy territory. The Khan of Nawagi and Manda will assist Brigadier General Ellis's expedition against the rebellious Mohmands.
