MISCELLANEOUS
At a meeting of the Committee of the Takapuna Jockey Club held on Wednesday night correspondence was read from the Auckland Racing Club and the recent purchaser of Castashore asking that the six months' disqualification imposed upon the gelding at the T.J.C. Winter Meeting in May last be removed. The Committee refused to alter their previous decision. The leading events of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club Spring Meeting have not attracted so many entries from Auckland as is usually the' case; in fact, the only trainer who lias entered from this port is G. Wright. He has engaged on behalf of his patrons Miss Emmy, Woodstock, Acone and Haria. Mr Henry's handicaps are due on or about September lGth. In local circles Defiance continues to firm in the New Zealand Cup betting. He is now quoted at 100 to 8. Daystar has also hardened. Euroclydon holds his own as favourite at 100 to' 10.
