DESTROYED.
A Vienna despatch of August 2nd states that reports from the Hooded districts slioav the situation is even Avorse than feared. The Avorst damage Avas done in Bohemia. Thirty houses have been destroyed and tAventy-fivc persons droAAned. Corpses Avere to be seen floating down the streets of Traulenau As-itli every kind of debris, even a cradle with a crying infant, which fortunately Avas rescued. At the village of Freiheit a house Avas Avashed aAvay bodily and its seventeen occupants Avere droAvned. Almost the AA-hole toAvn of Reichenberg is submerged and there, too, many have been droAvned. The loss to mill oAvners in that district is estimated at millions of llorins. In Vienna the damage already done to public Avorks, seAvers, gas mains and bridges is estimated at 2,000,000 florins. The Danube is uoav almost double its normal width and is still rising. According to reports from places up the river the Avaters are not likely to reach their highest point until to-mor toav. At Gmunden, lschl, Auszo and other health resorts enormous damage has been done. The people Avere compelled to llee for their lives.
The Emperor Francis Joseph is personally inspecting the efforts of the officials to palliate the effects of the disaster. In many places the crops have been entirely destroyed and, in consequence, the price of provisions is rapidly on the increase.
