AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS

Messrs Alfred Buckland and SonsWeekly Report.—At the Hay market, meadow hay has brought from 2s Sd to 3s cwt ,* straw, 18s to £1 6s the load ; chaff, £3 10s to £4; pressed hay, £2 10s to £3 ; carrots, £1 7s ; potatoes, '£3 10s to £4 12s (id ; Chesterfield guano, £3 10s ; bonedust, £o to £7 ton ; oats, 2s -Id to 3s 2d ; maize, 2s 2d bushel.; maize, on wharf, Is lid bushel. On Friday, the horse market was fully attended, consequent on the consignment from Sydney. Prices for draught. were from £13 to £20 each. On Tuesday hides yarded numerously ; were at late values. Stout ox, 3_d to od ; cow and light ox, 2£d to ,%d ; calfskins, 4d to 5Jd lb *. horse skins, 4s to (5s each ; tails, Is -id dozen ; tallow, 10s 9d to 13s Od cwt; fat, gd lb; skins, in full number, fully kept late advance. Fresh butchers' skins were from 4s to 5s 9d ; station skins, Is 3d to os each; merino wool, 5 Jd; washed longwool, 7 7 } d lb. At Waiuku ou Saturday, a small muster of cattle sold freely. Cows brought from £2 10s to £4 10s ; three to four-year-old steers, up to £4 14s ; calves, £1 to £1 '8s each. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy ! cows plentiful; good animals fairly competed for, and brought from £4 5s to £5 10s; inferior, £2 to £3 each; store cattle in fair supply, 95 sold; fresh cows in brisk demand from £2 to £3 each; three to four-year-old steers, £3 12s 6cl to £3 19s ; two to three-year-old steers, £3 3s each; fat and young calves, in less than average supply, were better worth from Is to 3s each,'4B sold. Fat cattle in average supply, above 200 sold, were regular in value throughout the sale, and on' the whole better worth ; prices obtained for steers were from 10s to 18s; cows, 13s to 16s* the 1001b. Fat sheep in usual number, 1,500 sold, were better worth about Is each ; spring lambs are required, 30 yarded, mostly of small size, brought from 9s to 14s Gd each. Pigs in average supply, 80 sold, mostly porkers were required ; fully kept late values.

Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Weekly REPORT.—During the week we have sold large quantities of horsefeed, grain, etc., for which there has been a steady demand. We quote: Maize, Is lOkl to Is lid on wharf; ex store, 2s 2d; feed oats, 2s 3d to 2s 7d; seed oats, about 3s; oaten chaff, prices unchanged ; bran, i' 4 ss; chaff, £4 to £4 5s in small quantities. Horses : There still exists a fair demand for good, sound horses of all descriptions, but the supply is scarce. Heavy draught and medium are also wanted. Our last week's quotations are fully sustained. On Tuesday hides and skins were pitched in full numbers. Prices for hides were as usual. Skins had a slight upward tendency. For heavy prime ox there is great demand, and prices for all classes ranged from 2.} d to 6_d. Calf, 4d to s_d. Bones, £3 10s; tallow, 12s ; sheepskins, heavy, 5s 8d to Gs 8d ; medium, 4s Gd to 4s lOd ; ordinary, Is 10(1 to 3s lid ; pelts, 8d to Is Gd ; lamoskins, Is; wool, skl to s£d. Cattle : The Newmarket yards were well tilled with all classes. Fat cattle; Several drafts of grand quality elicited keen competition. We quote very prime at 18s to 19s ; good light cattle, 18s; cows, 15s to 10s Gd ; bullocks, £5 7s Gd to £9 ; cows, £4 2s 6d to £5 10s. Dairy cattle ranged from £2 10s to £6 17s Gd ; dry cows, £1 10s to £2 ; fresh conditioned, up to £3 3s. At Pukekohe, on Wednesday, the yards were well filled as usual with all descriptions of cattle, and a steady demand existed throughout the sale. Sheep, in fair supply, were Is a head higher than last week ; fat wethers, lis to 15s 9d; ewes, lis to 14s; mixed lis 9d to 14s 3d. Porkers, light weights, 16sto£18sCd.

Messrs G. W. Binney and Sons' Weekly Report.—On Tuesday hides, sheepskins, tallow, etc., sold freely. Hides: Market firm for all well-condi-tioned lots, but the market easier for second-class parcels. Sheepskins : Competition very brisk throughout. Local larfte longwools, from 5s to 5s 6d ; crossbretls, 4s 3d to 4s 9d ; halfbreds, 3s to 4s ; country, dry, from 2s Gd to 5s 2d each. Tallow : Prices show improvement, good lots from lis 9dto 12s cwt ; rough fat, |d lb. Tails, hair, and bones :No change.

New Zealand Loan and Mercantile AGENCY. —Auckland Wool Stores, September 8. —At our weekly sale, on Tuesday, the offerings were again extra large, and prices for hides, skins, and tallow were firm at about late rates. Hides : We sold prime stout ox up to sgd ; heavy, 4id to 5-kl; light and medium, 3kl to A : \d. Poorand badly flayed hides were dull of sale at proportionately less rates. Cow : Best lines sold at 3§d'to 3kl ; sloppy, 2fd. Calf in keen demand ; sound sold at 5d to s_|d ; cut and scored, 3Jd to 4|d ; kip,2|d to 3-kl. Skins: Extra large crossbreds brought 5s to 5s 5d ; large, 4s 3d to 4s 9d; small and medium, 2s 9d to 4s ; halfbreds, 2s 3d to 4s Dd. Tallow :We sold medium tallow at 10s Gd tolls 3d cwt. No prime offering. Hair: In good demand. Cowtail. 9Jd to 10kl; horsehair, Is to Is 2d. Horns :In good demand, at from Gs to 15s 100, according to condition. Bones : Are worth £3 10s to £3 12s Gd ton. Oats : Good to best' feed are selling at 2s 2d and 2s 3d bushel, c.i.f. Maize : The market is slightly weaker than last week, but still sales are being made at last week's quotation, 2s on the wharf. Chaff: Consumers are beginning to realise that local stocks are very small, and that chaff cannot be landed here from the South at prices ruling there. The market has consequently risen to £4, ex store. Potatoes : The market is weak. Prime table are worth £3 ss, ex wharf.
