AUCKLAND V. PONSONBY DRUIDS
The football match played at Potter's Paddock between the Auckland and Ponsonby Druids resulted in a win for the former by 18 points to nil. Mr Ohlson acted as' referee in a very satisfactory manner. Soon after the kick oil', Auckland with a forward rush carried the ball to the line, when Spoll'ortli secured and scored the first try for the Auckland Lodge. No goal resulted. A little later Freeman got the ball at mid-field, and eluding the opposition, scored between the posts. The attempt at goal was again unsuccessful and the first spell ended : Auckland, fi ; Ponsonby, 0. At the beginning of the second spell', the Auckland forwards got away with a dribbling rush, which ended in Smith scoring the third try. The play then remained at mid-field till Webber with a strong run carried the ball into Ponsonby's 20. Here Smith secured, and after a good run scored behind the post. The kick at goal was again unsuccessful. Auckland continued the attack, and a piece of good passing play ended in Webber soring. Shortly before time Freeman again broke through and scored close to the posts. The kick at goal was again a failure, ami the game ended .Auckland IS, Ponsonby nil.
