MINE MANAGER'S REPORTS.

New Golden Point (Tapu).— Driving north and south ou the Golden Point reef in the new low level is being vigorously carried on. In the north breast the reef is showing the full width of the drive ; 18 inches of the hangingwall portion is of a defined and kindly character, and the other portion is divided into stringers, in the south end the quartz continues small, but has the appearance of opening out. In both drives we are meeting with a very linn strata of country. This I consider a good feature for getting gold at the low levels. The two breasts are now tiS feet apart.

Golden Lead. — A further distance of 28ft has been driven northwest on the reef, and the manager expects to break through to the other drive shortly. The ore coming to hand is of good grade showing colours of gold at each breaking down. Crushing commences on Tuesday. Mr Cussen advises sinking a winze on the reef, close to the present face of the drive. At this point the reef prospects very well, but is smaller than the average size, being only nine inches in width. The manager thinks rich gold will he got by sinking. ADKLAIDK.—The reef has been broken down for lift, and shows colours of gold. The reef is here well defined, and there is a long stretch of virgin country ahead. In the drive north the reef is I ft in width, and presents a kindly appearance. The quartz coming to hand from the leading stope shows colours of gold, (.'rushing will probably be resumed early next week. Ai.BURNIA BAST.—-The reef in No. 3 level is about lft in width, and the strata is of a favorable nature.

Clunks.—The reef is well defined, there being fully 3ft of quartz in the face. New What;.—ln the north drive the reef is still a line body of stone, well defined, and looks very well.

Nonpareil.—The western drive has been stopped for the present, and the men put on to prospect the hangingwall branch, where gold was first got in the level. By the indications the manager thinks there is every prospect of meeting with a patch there at any time. The slopes over the level are producing the usual amount of crushing dirt, in which colours of gold are occasionally seen. (.'rushing will begin when water is available.

Wcixomk Kind.—At No. .'? level 50 feet have been driven from the shaft. At No. 2 level gold in the form of dabs were observable in the lode at last breaking down. The lode is from two to eight inches in width.

EUROPEAN. —No. 4 reef continues to turn out rubbly with mullock patches. In another 50 feet a change of country is expected. -Temple Bar.—ln the low level progress is slow, as the* country is very hard. A few small stringers of quartz are now making in the face.

Moanatairi North. — Rising is proceeding on the reef near the face of the drive at the low level. The reef going upwards is from loin to ISm thick, and is carrying good mineral. Gold can be obtained in the dish by washing. We have taken out some of the reef from the floor of the level, and at this jx>int we obtained good prospects in the dish. We have seen colours of gold in the stone on several occasions, and J am of opinion that there exists good payable ore under foot.

AXE AKk.--Messrs Phillips and Co. report as follows: —" Tho leader which is being driven on hail encountered a throw of about three feet to the left, and was temporarily lost, lyit ha* lieen picked up again. It is now five inches thick, ami trending towards tho point whore the good gold was got in the creek. Just previous to striking the throw, the leader had increased to IS inches. There are about 10 lons of ore paddoeked, and the sample accompanying this report is ahout the average. We would suggest that one tun (trial) only be crushed at present, and that on the results the advisability or otherwise of crushing the remainder should depend. We think the main crushing test should be made when the drive is under the small creek."'
