Lifting Native Trees from the Bush (Would -bo Planter). — The best time tor E-tUn__: native trees from the bu h isthe latter portion of March and the beginning of April. To ensure success you had better obtain young seedling plants about four to six inches in height. If possible, tho little plants _hould be lifted with all their root*. After lifting tie them up into little bundles and cover their roots with damp moss iv which they will carry with safety for some days. When they arc brought home tlio little plants can be placed ihickly together in rows and their roots covered with soil, then watered. J. or tho next month they should be shaded fr.i*. theaun'a rays and the soil juatkopt moist. About tho end of May the shading should be removed. Towards the beginning of August tho little plants may be planted out in the open in ordinary nursery rows, where during the next two or three years thoy should be kept free from weeds. For most of our native trees it will take about throe years in the nursery before they can be planteu out in the open. To lift trees about three to four feel in height and plant out in the open wauld iv most cases be a failure.
