Drunkenness. — For this offence Sarah Dennis was fined 10s, or, in default), 48 hours in Mounb Eden. A first offender was convicted and discharged with a caution, and ordered to pay cab hire.

Threatknino Behaviour. — A man named Jas. H. Roe was fined lGs and costs or 48 hours in Mount Eden for using threatening bohaviour in Forb'street.

Alleged Breaking and Entering.— William Knox was charged that or 24th March he did break and enter the shop of Geo. Garretb in Karangabape Road and ebeal a number of articles of the total value of £7.—Accused was undefended.— George G irrebt deposed that be was a butcher and carried on business as a butcher in Karangahapo Road, where he resided. On 24tb March ho found accused in his shop about 3.30 p.m. It was a half-boliday on the afternoon on that day and be locked up his shop and went out about 20 minutes to 3, leaving no one on the premises. Witness returned abouthalf-past3 and when he went to the front door of the shopbe found it ajar. When witness pushed the door open he saw the accused, who had a sack in his band, wibh the bottom of it resting, on the floor. The accused mado a rush, and witness caught) him by/the collar. Babkin, draper, carrying on business opposite Mr Garrett'e ebop in Karangabapb Road, deposed that on the afternoon in question between three and four o'clock he waa in company with Mr Re«d, and wfcen about 40 yardß off Mr Garrebt's shop he saw accused fall on bhe pavement, and free himself from Mr Garrebt, and run away in bhe direction of East-street. Witness and Mr Reed followed him and broughb him bo Mr Garretb s shop. A man named McKeown caughb him about half-ft-mile trom the Bhop. When accused was brought back witness saw the goods on tke floor of the chop.--Arthur Joseph" McKeown, labourer, of Brown-street, depoeed thab a little after three p.m. on the 24th March he saw accuaed running across the road from Mr Garretb's Bhop. A man named Roe and witness ran down Easb-etreeb and along Soubh-sbreeboutintoWeat-streetand around into Cobden-street, where witness caught accused. Witness handed accused over to Mr Reed and Mr Batkin.-Geo Brown labourer, residing in Hasletb-Btreet, Eden Terrace, deposed that he knew accused by bWM. Between three and four p.m on the 24th March be saw accused get ofi a tram and go into a paasage alongside Mr Garrotb's shop. Accused could get inbo bhe shop from this paaeage.-In reply to accused witness said thab he was standng ab bhe corner of Pitb-sbreeb when he Zl accused >b off the bram.-Cons table W^ker deposed to greeting accused and taking possession of bhe goods Ho charged accused, who admitted having been in Mr Garretfs shop. Accused claimed two chisels lying alongside the sack as his own properby.-Acqused ralervedl his defence and was committed to X his trial at the next criminal sittings of the Supreme Court.
