Some explanation is requisite anent the fact bhab an application made ab bhe Warden's Courb yesterday for protection for these properties was adjourned. Mr McVeigh, who made the application, stated thab over £1,000 (nob £100 as stated by our morning contemporary) had been expended upon bhe mine. Tho Warden asked for a statement as bo how much had been actually sponb on bhe ground and how much wenb into the legal manager's office ab Auckland. We are. authorised by Mr H. Gilfillan, junr., to state thab £1,058 has been spent;, made up as follows :—Mine wages £887'17s and mine requisibes £170 17a Sd. Nob only have bhe Auckland office expenses nob beon included in this amount, bub oven tho rents are omitted.
