FATALITY AT EPSOM.
A MAN KILLED,
A fatalit- of a somewhat mysteribti character occurred on Saturday evening about duck. on the Onebuoga Read, between Epsom and Newmarket Ab 7.30 o'clock, a brake wit returning bo Aue.»,arid from the Oraip picnic ab Manger,, when the occupanti noticed a horse in a trap a little disteoci ahead shy at. something on the read. The brake pulled up, and one of the party, Mr W. Farquhar, of Franklin Road, gob down to see •< whs*-bad frightened the horse ahead, and fooaa a'middle-aged man lying on the roadway, cut about the head and legs and apparently very badly hurt. The man was found to be Alberb Carroll, formerly of Hpp« Queen-street. Ha was too bad, howevet. bo give an intelligible account of bo* he had gob hurt. He was taken in tin trap to the Newmarket police afca-on, and Constable Mackle then took the man w Dr. Gordon, who examined him, aid ordered him robe taken to the Hospital. Carroll was examined ab the Hospital, aw was found to be very much bruised abooi the abdomen, and cub over the bead aw lege, as if be had been run over by » vehicle. The man sank under his injariei. and died about midnight on [Saturday, Carroll had a female relative io m Costiey Home at Epsom,but it is not know whether be went out to see her or tosee the races at Potter's Paddeck. ~ A post mortem was performed to-day » ascertain bhe nature of the fatal injuria, and bhe result- was to be made known at" inquest into the man's death held.atJM Hospital this afternoon by Dr. Pwl««>i Coroner.
