In the Houbo of Commona to-day, Mr Chamberlain announced that a meseago had been,received from tho Transvaal Governmeub claiming the sum of £b'77,536 for material damage reaulunc from the Jamieson raid, and £1,000,000 in respecb ot damage to tho country on moral and intellectual grounds. He seated that the wording of the communication was ambiguoua. Poßaibly the total amount claim was £1,000,000, though ho thought thie waa not ao. The announcamenb was received with laugihter. Newspapers ridicule the claim.
